Adventures in Baltimore...

Good morning! We're in Baltimore! I'm at Starbucks, which is, conveniently, just a block away from the marina!
weeeee!

We left Annapolis yesterday morning and had a pleasant 4ish hour ride.

We saw Sandy Point Light...

Also, we saw the Francis Scott Key Memorial Bouy!
...yeah... apparently this is how we honor the person responsible for writing The Star Spangled Banner!? (...tune in next week to see the Rosa Parks Memorial Stop Sign!)

We got into Baltimore around lunch time... and you'll NEVER GUESS who came to see me!!! The one, the only, Brielle Smoot! Aaaaaaagh!

You missed her as much as I did! We had a blast... had about a year of life to catch up on. She and Mike (you remember Mike! Biggest sweetheart! You missed him TOO!) took me to a hamburger place called B.W. Wreck's... or W.E. Mike's... or something... anyway- great burgers! awesome beer! had fun! :)

Then we found a RITA'S!!!!!

You should know- I did take another picture after this one... and made Brie move the straw from in front of her face, but this one was just so good- with both of them laughing at some hilarious thing I said, that I just had to post it. It's my blog, I can do what I want.

Today, the weather is very nice... not quite as hot as yesterday. Gonna go take a walk around the city, see what I can find...

Hope you're all doing well! Thanks for reading! :)

Auntie Em! Auntie Em!

There is some serious weather here in Wrightsville Beach tonight.

I took some pictures as we were walking back to the boat from supper... I'd love to show them to you, but the blogger gods refuse to assist.
Just know that it is really cool-looking. You are missing out.

We left Wilmington this morning at 11 after visiting the farmer's market- I got a yummy sample of key lime from Mike the Rita's salesman before heading over to my Wilmington coffee shop of choice: Port City Java, for a really good iced coffee :)

On the walk back to the boat, I got to give a singer/guitar player a dollar FOR SINGING ME A SONG- you see, that's how it works.
This particular entertainer was singing a song called, "What Kind of Cat are You?"
..."What kind of cat starts a chemical reaction?"
To which a few obscure voices answer "CAT-ALYST!"

...seriously.

The trip from Wilmington to Wrightsville takes approximately 20 minutes.
via motorized vehicle.
It took us a mere 3 hours.
Lovely trip though- beautiful scenery!

Tomorrow we're headed to Beaufort... pronounce that like BOW(in your hair)- fort. Not to be confused with the SC version...

We're gonna stay in the ICW tomorrow- it's supposed to be crazy-windy tomorrow, the ocean would not be a friendly place.

Hope this post finds you well. Hugs all around!

Play me a song and I'll give you a dollar!

We're in Wilmington! I've never been here before... and I don't know what I was expecting, but I certainly was not expecting a charming little historic town!

Wait, let's back up to yesterday- a very long day on the water. We left Georgetown a little earlier than usual and it took a whopping 13 hours to get into Wilmington. The ocean was already a little rough, then 2 storms managed to find us around 2:15 in the afternoon...

We had to circle outside the Cape Fear inlet for an hour before we came in because the weather was so bad that it was impossible to see any markers or oncoming traffic.

This morning brought a BEAUTIFUL day! I went into town and found a great coffee shop- Port City Java. Yum-oh! and then wandered around town before meeting up with Alice to find some groceries. On the way back to the boat, we found a Rita's!! no joke! Life is good!

Mango and Watermelon- like Sunset in a Cup!

I'm back at the same coffee shop from this morning... the wireless at the dock was touch-and-go. As I was crossing the street to get here, some crazy woman asked me for a dollar "for a slice of pizza," she claimed... karma must have heard me decline this woman's offer to take my hard-earned dollar and decided to kick my ass, because it wasn't a second after I said it that I busted my toe on the curb... blood everywhere.

"Everyone makes mistakes," she said.
...to which I replied, "yeah, I still don't have any cash."

"One hand on the boat!"

Monday, August 24th:
We left Jersey City (Liberty Landing) headed for Atlantic City to meet Barry's brother Steve...
Not much else happened Monday, or it did and I forgot because I'm embarrassingly behind on my posts... oh well, will update you if I think of anything significant!

Tuesday:
We left Atlantic City around 7ish… later than usual because it was a short trip to Cape May.
We took a cab into town and walked around for a while, went in some cool stores, and found a RITA’S!!! (fyi: StrawberryKiwi ice + vanilla custard= BEST EVER!!!)
For dinner, we walked just across the street to Lucky Bones! …where we ate on the way up… it was very good! After dinner, we tried to treat Steve to the all around cultural experience that is The Princess Bride, but he fell asleep… oh well, we enjoyed it!

Wednesday:
This morning, I woke up late (8:30ish) and walked into town to find internet… I found it… but it’s $4/15 minutes!! As if! So, instead, I got 15 free minutes at the library and got very little done.
I found a new cross for my cross wall!!! It's very pretty!
Then, I walked back to the boat, hung out for a while, before we went to a restaurant called Copper Fish across the street from the marina- holy cannoli! best Grouper ever ever!

Thursday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ASHLEY!!!!

This morning's sunrise:

BEST sunken boat picture YET!!!

We woke up normal time, and had a long day on the water... there were rather big swells... not much happened... we are docked in Chincoteague, MD. A VERY small town! The police chief and the coast guard chief? came by to check on us... see where we were coin from... see if we needed anything... nice gentlemen...
Every citizen of this nice little town has been by to take pictures of us- we are the talk of the town! Tomorrow, we are leavin early to make the 6AM bridge opening! yippee!

Now you're all caught up! :D

Rollin’ in the dough.

1st order of business: yesterday’s lighthouse- the one you couldn’t see the top of- was Absecon Lighthouse.

#2: Check out this bird. He was on the bow of the boat before supper- clearly in the penguin family, no? I wanted a picture of him flying, but couldn’t snap it in time… oh well.

Now, on to today- it was a layover day! Breakfast in the Trump Marina tower- a yogurt parfait and a corn muffin and the rest of Dick’s bacon and home fries! Mmmm! After we left there, I won $8.30 at the casino! I’m rich!

And here’s proof!

This afternoon, we went across the canal to the Boardwalk. The cab dropped us off at Caesar’s and we walked, oh I don’t know, about 40 miles down the boardwalk, saw all kinds of interesting people, smelled new and different smells- there’s about 200 feet of boardwalk that smells like rotting fish, took pictures of gold elephants, etc. We saw another Rita’s!!!There was a really long line. We didn’t have Rita’s.

We went in the Showboat Casino and walked around- they have a House of Blues there, a very cool House of Blues. The whole hotel kinda has a House of Blues feel to it.

We had dinner at Caesar’s- in a restaurant called Trinity Pub, I think. AMAZING. I had Potato Leek Soup and a salad- seriously, so good. Then we walked around the shops at Ceasar’s- an entire mall and not one book store! So weird… I’m out of books.

Here's a picture from the cab ride back to the Trump Marina (I'm aware of its quality.)

Good night all! :D

Happy August!

8/1/09

We’re in Cape May, New Jersey!
They have Rita’s Italian Ice! Who knew!?

We left Delaware this morning and had a relatively short riding day to Cape May. In spite of Utsch’s Marina’s inhospitable-ness, this place is pretty cool. We walked around downtown, saw some pretty houses… some not so pretty… went in some fun little beachy stores, I got Rita’s, and we met 2 fun cabbies!

They have some crazy bright houses here too! (I apologize. There are no pictures. Somehow, all of today's pictures from my (Dad's) camera are gone. Not sure what happened? Better luck tomorrow I guess…)

Tonight we ate dinner at a restaurant down the street called LuckyBones! Very good pizza- even though it didn’t have lobster on it…

While walking through all the boats in the lot by the marina, we saw one called Risky Business! So crazy! ...Again, I took a picture, but none of them are there anymore. Truly don't know what happened...

Tomorrow we’re headed for Atlantic City for 2 day! Woop! Peace out, homies! :D

Do what you like. Like what you do.
