Today is July 30, 2009.

I had an amazing morning- woke up late, read my book on the stern with Fran, there was an awesome breeze- this place is beautiful.

We finally got Alice’s sunglasses fixed! (there is more to this story, but we’ll save that for a later time…) We had an adventure at the Pennsylvania Dutch Bakery. We have enough food to last us until the end of time- pies, fruit, bagels, candy, brownies… yum-oh!
After we got all of our finds back to the boat, we headed off in the rental car to St Michaels- over the Bay Bridge. More on that later.

We had lunch at the Crab and Steakhouse Restaurant (I finally had a crab cake!!! Devine, just devine…) just across from the St Michaels Lighthouse. Here’s a picture.

We walked around “downtown” St Michaels. Looked in little shops- the town is way cool.

Then we had to take the Bay Bridge back to Annapolis. I decided I’m not a fan. It’s very tall. Cruise ships can fit underneath.

During rush hour, they close one lane of the westbound bridge (there are 2 bridges. One eastbound and one westbound.) and let cars go in the opposite direction! It’s utter chaos! Here’s a picture:

p.s. all day, I’ve been singing that song, “That’s Life” Michael Buble-style… great song.

Today is Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

This morning was a short riding day- we got to Annapolis before noon! On the way, we saw Cove Point lighthouse- AND got a picture of it while it was lit up! …not as easy as you’d think.
It lights up every 10 seconds.
There was counting involved.

Then, we saw Bloody Point lighthouse:

And because it's such an awesome lighthouse, here is one that someone painted. It was on the wall near our table at lunch.

We also saw another crab boat:I decided I want to take one home.
They’re way fun.

Since I know you’re wondering, we ate lunch at McGarvey’s- a pretty cool pub. Kinda like Hannah Flannigan's. but not. I had a mighty fine cheeseburger. Then we walked around Annapolis, got some ice cream, looked in some cool stores, and I finally bought some new books! There was a way cool bookstore downtown that sells books way cheap- I was excited!

This town is so sweet- it looks like a foreign country! Cute little store fronts line the streets- check out this cute little sign:What a great name for a store, right?

Tonight, we’re eating dinner at a place called Café Normandie downtown. Tomorrow is a layover day- whoopee! We’ll sleep in a little, and then there are more sights to see!

…headed for Annapolis tomorrow for 2 days! Yay for a layover! So, last night, we saw a couple jellyfish by the dock and that was cool… but this morning when we got into the Chesapeake, there were TONS!!!! Way too many to count! Kinda gross.

Speaking of the Chesapeake, I was informed by a friend that I was responsible for getting a picture of a real live Chesapeake crab boat. So, here you go:

Believe it or not, we actually saw more than this, but could not get pictures… the binocular trick only works so far away. Two unaccounted for were Point No Point and Solomons Lump. Seriously.

This was way cool:
These are fishing boats that communicate with airplanes- the planes find HUGE schools of fish and tell the boats where to get them. They apparently bring in millions of fish. Craziness.

We had spaghetti for dinner. On the boat. Yum-oh.
